Why is it important to take your kids to the Dentist?
It is crucial to establish good oral hygiene practices in order to set your child up for good dental health for the rest of his/her life.
Our team at Subi Smilemakers will offer advice on tooth brushing technique, flossing and education on optimal foods to maintain tooth quality. Your child’s visits with us will also focus on early detection and prevention of abnormalities or disease.
When should my child first visit the Dentist?
Regular visits are recommended around one year of age, else when the first teeth start to erupt.
How to ensure your child’s visit goes smoothly:
- We understand that a child’s dental appointments are often marked with anxiety and apprehension. To minimise these emotions, here are some tips to transition an unpleasant visit to one that is smooth and positive!
- Ensure your child is well rested prior to the appointment
Avoid correlating dentistry with negative emotions or phrases with your child
Bring in a familiar toy or object that will foster a sense of calmness in your child.
What’s the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
In Australia, children aged between two and 18 years have free basic dental care through the public system, all part of the Commonwealth-funded Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). This free scheme is particularly ideal for low-income families who can’t afford private dental care.
Benefits for basic dental services, including examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings etc and are capped at $1000 per child over two consecutive calendar years. Children won’t even have to be on a waiting list. Eligible patients are welcome to our SUBI SMILEMAKERS and will be given the next available appointment.
We bulk-bill patients eligible under the Child dental benefits schedule.
